Live out your Jane Austen dreams in a high-quality, historically accurate Regency era ball gown and matching open robe. Whether you are an attendee at an event, a historical reenactor, an actress in theatre, or an avid admirer of Jane Austen's works, this dress will make you feel like your favorite Austen heroine.

This polyester ball gown and open robe set were created as an illustration of what Caroline Bingley may have worn.  The dress was also altered to imitate a dress worn by Lizzy in Pride and Prejudice Zombies, as well as a dress worn by Lady Violet Bridgerton in Season 1 of Bridgerton.  The dress was worn for three photoshoots and five different events, while the open robe was only worn for one photoshoot and one event.

Both garments on based on extants from the era and can be slightly adjust for fit with a drawstring (ball gown) or moving the hooks and bars (open robe).

As a sample that has been used multiple times, this Regency gown and open robe set is available at a dramatically reduced price.  It can ship to you in 3-5 business days. Shipping within the U.S. is FREE for all orders over $50.

Commissions for this gown start at $299 and this open robe at $149.  The open robe can be purchased here, and the gown can be purchased here.

ALL THE DETAILS

This Regency ensemble is a women's size 12-14 (large) and is ideal for heights of about 5'9" to 5'11".  It will fit a bust measurement up to 44".

The ball gown features:

  • 100% polyester crepe back satin in a dark teal
  • an overlapping v-neck at both the front and back
  • adjustable cotton tape drawstring in back underbust seam
  • gathered detail in front bodice
  • back bodice closure of two hooks and a drawstring
  • short puffed sleeves that end in a cuff
  • a skirt that is fitted in front and sides, but gathered in back center

PLEASE NOTE: The dress currently has the hand-beaded lace trim attached at the neckline and the skirt split alterations (as seen in the photos with the sword); however, if you would like the trim removed and/or the split sewn up, please let me know in the "notes" box at checkout.  I will do either/both of these things at no additional charge.

      The open robe features:

      • 100% polyester jacquard border print in a teal/gold color way
      • a bodice fully-lined with the same fabric as the ball gown
      • front hook and eye closure, which fits under the bust
      • classic Regency diamond shape back

      The MEASUREMENTS are as follows:

      • bust: 45"
      • underbust: adjustable from 34" to 36"
      • back nape of neck to hem: 60"

To achieve the correct historical silhouette, this dress is pictured over a shift, stays, and petticoat, but no shift, stays, or petticoat are included with this listing. This set is made to fit over stays and will not fit correctly over modern undergarments.

Measure your bust and waist to see if the gown and open robe will fit you. For the most accurate fit, please take the measurements while wearing your stays and other undergarments (i.e. shift, petticoat, etc). The dress should sit about 2" off the ground.

Alterations can be completed for an additional cost; please message us to discuss alterations and get a price quote.

PLEASE NOTE: The ball gown has been worn multiple times.  Both the gown and open robe were washed before being listed here for sale.  Because this is a used item, it is listed at a substantial discount.  The dress has small "snags" scattered on the satin due to use - please see listing photos - and this wearing of the fabric has been considered in pricing.  The snags are not noticeable unless the dress is closely inspected.

      HOW TO MEASURE YOURSELF

Please measure yourself while wearing the stays and other undergarments you plan to wear with the items.  Remember that measurements such as your bust and underbust should be smaller than the ensemble measurements by about an inch, to allow for ease of movement. Refer to the measurement graphic in the listing and the video tutorial if you need assistance in understanding and taking your measurements. If you still have additional questions, please feel free to message me. If you would like it altered to fit your measurements, please message me for alteration pricing, as that will be an additional cost.
