Be your own romantic heroine in this high-quality, historically accurate white gown.  Whether you are an attendee at an event, a historical reenactor, an actress in theatre, or an avid admirer of Dickinson's life and works, this white gown will make you feel like a work of art!

White gowns regained popularity in the mid-Victorian era and were especially popular as summer or evening wear for younger women.  There are numerous extant examples of both white fan dresses and white evening gowns.  The one surviving dress of Emily Dickinson's is white.

As a modeling sample, this white dress was worn for photography.  It is the only white fan dress in this size, fabric, and design and is available at a reduced price.  It can ship to you in 3-5 business days. Shipping within the U.S. is FREE for all orders over $50.

This ensemble can also be commissioned in the size and fabric of your choice. Commission pricing starts at $549. If you would like to commission it in the size and color of your choice, message me today!

ALL THE DETAILS

This white dress is a women's size 4 (small) and is ideal for heights of about 5'2" to 5'4".  It includes a bodice and skirt, which are currently whipstitched together at the waist.

This dress is made in the Emily's Fan Dress design out of a white 100% cotton voile and includes:

  • a "Y" shape bodice, which visually broadens the shoulders and narrows the waist
  • intricate ruching at the shoulders and front center waist
  • fully lined and fitted, boned bodice
  • back closure with hook and eye tape
  • long, fitted sleeves trimmed with white (synthetic) lace and ending in a buttoned cuff
  • full gathered skirt with a width of 130"-160"
  • hem facing
  • two ruffles around the bottom half of the skirt

The dress measurements are as follows:

  • Bust: 36"
  • Waist: 27.5"
  • Back neck to hem length: 54"

If you would like additional measurements, please contact us and we will be happy to provide them!

To achieve the correct historical silhouette, the dress is pictured over a corset, corded petticoat, and regular petticoat, but no corset or petticoats are included with this listing.

**PLEASE NOTE: All samples are boned with heavy duty zip ties, rather than synthetic whalebone, to help keep costs low.  I find these are just as quality as synthetic whalebone and bone all of my personal historical garments with heavy duty zip ties, but I wanted to disclose this information before you purchase the garment.

HOW TO MEASURE YOURSELF

Please measure yourself while wearing the corset and other undergarments you plan to wear with the ensemble and remember that measurements such as your bust and waist should be smaller than the dress measurements by about an inch, to allow for ease of movement.

Refer to the measurement graphic in the listing and the video tutorial if you need assistance in understanding and taking your measurements. If you still have additional questions or if you would like the dress altered to fit your measurements, please feel free to contact us. (Alterations will be an additional cost.)
