This lightweight cotton dress will be perfect for your summer events!  Border prints were often strategically used on 1850s dresses to accentuate the fashionable hourglass silhouette by visually widening the shoulder/bust and skirt areas.  Examples of border print dresses can still be found in period fashion plates and surviving extant dresses.  This dress will be made out of the pictured white and blue cotton border print.

It will be made in the Meg's Afternoon Gown design with two border print ruffles on the skirt and bell-shaped "pagoda" sleeves with white cotton voile undersleeves.  This dress is available in all sizes from XS to 5X.  This dress is listed at a reduced price because it part of a brand ambassador agreement and is reserved for Angie.

As a custom piece, this item is professionally handmade at my Texas (USA) studio and order fulfillment takes 10-12 weeks. Please see the website header for a current estimate on the month your order will be shipped to you. Shipping within the U.S. is FREE for all orders over $50.

ALL THE DETAILS

This gown is made-to-order to your measurements. Within 48 hours of receiving your order, I will send you a measurement worksheet listing the measurements required for a perfect fit.

The dress includes:

  • two pieces: a matching skirt and bodice
  • a fully lined, "V" shaped bodice
  • dropped shoulders
  • darts in the front and princess seams in the back for a close-fitting bodice
  • front button closure and center back skirt closure
  •  bell-shaped "pagoda" sleeves with white undersleeves (normally a $50 add-on)
  • a skirt width between 150" and 180" to generously accommodate a ROUND hoop skirt
  • a skirt evenly gathered to fit the bodice
  • two border print ruffles spaced evenly on this skirt (normally a $150 add-on)
  • a hem faced with a coordinating cotton fabric

PLEASE NOTE: The pictured extant border print dresses are just examples which serve ONLY as inspiration and do NOT depict exactly how your gown will be made.

To achieve the correct historical silhouette, dresses are pictured over a chemise, corset, and petticoats, but no chemise, corset, or petticoats are included with this listing.  This dress is made to fit over a corset and will not fit correctly over modern undergarments.  However, if you would like your commissioned dress to fit over modern undergarments, please send a message, and I will be happy to oblige!  The dress will be hemmed to accommodate a hoop skirt and sit about 2" off the floor, based on the measurements you send after you order.
