Limited Edition: Addy's Cape Island Dress in Child Size (1855-1865)

Inspired by the dress worn by the American Girl doll Addy Walker in Addy's Summer Place, this Limited Edition dress is a child's size replica of Addy's dress.  It will be made in a peach organdy cotton and trimmed with black rayon soutache braid.  Made of quality fabrics, this investment will last through hours of reenactments, events, and creative play.  

There is only ONE (1) available of this design, so purchase now if you want this dress!  The dress will be made to replicate as closely as possible both Addy's dress and the extant dress as seen in the listing photo.  This dress is available in all children's sizes from 2T to 10/12 (Large).  Historically, children's clothing was made to accommodate growth, and this design has gathers, a drawstring, growth tucks, and extra waistband length to accommodate the developing child for two to three years.

As a custom piece, this item is professionally handmade at my Texas (USA) studio and order fulfillment takes 12-14 weeks. Please see the website header for a current estimate on the month your order will be shipped to you. Shipping within the U.S. is FREE for all orders over $50.

ALL THE DETAILS

This dress is made-to-order to the size you choose. Within 3-5 business days of receiving your order, I will send you an email requesting a few measurements required to determine the size for a perfect fit.

The dress includes:

• 100% cotton organdy in a pale peach
• a boat neckline pleated to a band
  
• a waistband with extra length (button can be moved)
• back bodice closure of two buttons - one at neck and one at waist
• gathered, open sleeves
• a skirt that is fully gathered all the way around
• a wide hem that can be let out as the child grows
• black trim on the waistband, sleeves, and hem

If you would like to add a chemise, drawers, and/or petticoat to your order, please find the Victorian Undergarments in the Children's Collection section and add the desired items to your cart.

Measure your child's chest, waist, and dress length according to the sizing graphic, then choose your child's size according to the sizing chart.  For the most accurate fit, please take the measurements snug to your child's body (or over any undergarments, such as a chemise, that you already own and plan to have them wear). The dress will have wearing ease in it, with at least 5" extra in the chest area and 2" extra in the waistband (which can be pulled in by moving the button or by tying on a sash).

The dress is hemmed by age according to the pictured 1868 graphic.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

A care card will be included with your order, but this dress will be dry clean only.

All fabrics are preshrunk, usually by prewashing.  Seller is not responsible for any allergic reactions to the detergent used in prewashing.

Items with buttons will arrive with an extra button sewn inside.
