Size L/XL: Jo's Scribbling Suit (1860s)

Become your own scribbler in this reproduction 1860s girl's pinafore and cap.  Whether you are an attendee at an event, a historical reenactor, an actress in theatre, or an avid admirer of Little Women, this set will make you feel just like Jo March (and keep your dress unstained while you're writing)!

This set replicates what Jo most likely wore as her "scribbling suit," as described in the book and based on historical fashions of the 1860s.  The pinafore is a replica of a girl's pinafore illustration in an 1862 Godey's Lady's Magazine.  The cap is based on both an illustration from the 1870 edition of Little Women and a cap pattern from an 1861 Peterson's Magazine.  

This set was made to wear when I filmed Episode 3 of Project Becoming Jo March and has only been worn once.  It is in like new condition and is the only one available.  It is available at a reduced price and can ship to you in 3-5 business days.  Shipping within the U.S. is FREE for all orders over $50.

ALL THE DETAILS

The cap is a one-size-fits-all item and the pinafore is a size 12/14/16.  It is ideal for heights of 5'4" to 5'9".

The cap features:

• black worsted wool blend
  
• the crown of the cap is slightly gathered to a headband that is 24" finished
• black cotton lace gathered to the edge of the headband
  
• a red silk satin bow on the front center of the headband
  

The pinafore features:

• black worsted wool blend
• a high, wide neckline
• a bodice gathered into the waistband
• a button back closure at the neckline and waistband
• a fully gathered skirt 

The MEASUREMENTS are as follows:

• waist: up to 37"
• neck to hem length: 49"

PLEASE NOTE: Set does NOT include the dress worn beneath the pinafore or any of the props used in the photos.

To achieve the correct historical silhouette, this set is pictured over a chemise, corset, petticoats, and 1860s dress, but no chemise, corset, petticoats, or dress are included with this listing. This set should fit correctly over both modern and historical undergarments.

HOW TO MEASURE YOURSELF

Measure yourself while wearing the undergarments (i.e. corset) and dress you plan to wear under the pinafore.  Measurements such as your waist should be about 1" smaller than the pinafore measurement to allow for ease of movement when wearing the garment.
