Mary's Fichu

Be your own Mary Bennet in a high-quality, historically accurate Regency fichu. Whether you are an attendee at an event, a historical reenactor, an actress in theatre, or an avid admirer of Jane Austen's books, this fichu will make you feel gorgeously feminine and help you create an accurate Regency fashion look.

A fichu was usually worn during the day to fill in the neckline of the low-necked Regency styles for both warmth and modesty purposes.  This fichu is made-to-order in the style that you choose from the drop down. There are design variations and each variation is based off extant examples that can be found here.  Please note that trims such as lace, braid, etc. will vary slightly depending on stock available. Contact us through the “Custom Orders” page if you would like to discuss additional fabric and customization options that are not available on this listing.

As a custom piece, this item is professionally handmade at my Texas (USA) studio and order fulfillment takes 10-12 weeks. Please see the website header for a current estimate on the month your order will be shipped to you. Shipping within the U.S. is FREE for all orders over $50.

ALL THE DETAILS

The chemisette includes:

• 100% cotton voile in white
• a narrow hand-rolled hem that is machine stitched
  
• (optional) lace trim

There are two style options:

• a square fichu which measures 36" square
• a rectangle fichu which measures about 12" wide by 48" long

The fichu is shown over the proper undergarments, a chemise and stays, and with a Regency era dress, but no chemise, stays, or dress come with this purchase.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

A care card will be included with your order, but this fichu can be machine washed in cold water, dried on low heat, and pressed with a hot iron. 

All fabrics are preshrunk, usually by prewashing.  Seller is not responsible for any allergic reactions to the detergent used in prewashing.

Items that have buttons will arrive with an extra button sewn inside.
