Diana's Boating Dress (1890-1900)

Thrill any lover of Anne of Green Gables when you gift them this historically accurate, late Victorian girl's dress with "puffed sleeves."  Made of quality fabrics, this investment will last through hours of reenactments, events, and creative play.  

Historically, children's clothing was made to accommodate growth, and this design has a drawstring waist and a deep hem to accommodate the developing child for two to three years.  It is based off extant designs and fashion plates.

ALL THE DETAILS

Dresses are made in standardized sizing; use the size chart to choose the correct size for your child.

The dress includes:

• a v-neck with a contrasting dickey that buttons in
  
• a sailor collar trimmed with contrasting braid
• a front button closure with a drawstring waist
• puffed sleeves with a fitted cuff
• a fitted lining of 100% cotton for the sleeves
  
• contrasting braid trim on the sleeve cuffs
• a skirt that is fully gathered all the way around
• a deep hem of 3-4"

If you would like to add a chemise, drawers, and/or petticoat to your order, please find the Edwardian Undergarments in the Children's Collection section and add the desired items to your cart.

Measure your child's chest, waist, and dress length according to the sizing graphic, then choose your child's size according to the sizing chart.  For the most accurate fit, please take the measurements snug to your child's body (or over any undergarments, such as a chemise, that you already own and plan to have them wear). The dress will have wearing ease in it, with at least 2" extra in the chest area and 2" extra in the waistband (which can be pulled in with the drawstring).

The dress is hemmed by age according to the pictured 1868 graphic; however, if your child is shorter or taller than the measurement on the size chart, let us know in the comment box on the check out page, and we will lengthen/shorten the dress at no extra charge.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

This will depend on the dress/outfit chosen.  A care card will be included with your order; dresses made with cotton, linen, or polyester fabrics can be machine washed.  If you choose a silk or wool fabric, it will be dry clean only.

All items are prewashed and preshrunk. Seller is not responsible for any allergic reactions to the detergent used in prewashing.

Items that have buttons on them come with an extra button sewn inside.
