Be your own Anne Shirley in a perfectly tailored, high-quality, historically accurate Edwardian-era skirt. Whether you are an attendee at an event, a historical reenactor, an actress in theatre, or an avid admirer of Lucy Maud Montgomery's works, this skirt is perfect for long weekend walks, a day of teaching, or an evening with Gilbert!

This listing is a collaboration with Claudia of Sunbird Crochet (visit her channel to see this skirt in action!).  Sketches, photography, and video credit belong to Claudia.

The skirt and shirtwaist (blouse) became popular during the late 1800s, especially for working women.  When looking at period photos, skirts like these were ubiquitous, and this versatile skirt can be worn with both your historical and everyday wardrobes.  It is patterned based on original drafting instructions from the turn of the century.

When you purchase a made-to-order item, you get the skirt of your dreams by choosing the fabric from the drop-down options, providing measurements for a custom fit, and even purchasing extra available add-ons! (Search the website for “add-ons” to see what’s available!)  Please note that trims such as lace, braid, etc. will vary slightly depending on stock available. Contact us through the “Custom Orders” page if you would like to discuss additional fabric and customization options that are not available on this listing.

As a custom piece, this item is professionally handmade at my Texas (USA) studio and order fulfillment takes 10-12 weeks. Please see the website header for a current estimate on the month your order will be shipped to you. Shipping within the U.S. is FREE for all orders over $50.

 ALL THE DETAILS

This skirt is made-to-order: choose the size that you currently wear in contemporary sizing and choose the fabric combination from the fabric choices.  Within 48 hours of receiving your order, I will send you a measurement worksheet listing the measurements required for a perfect fit.

This skirt includes:

  • the wool fabric of your choice with a cotton hem facing
  • five gored panels in the skirt with multiple pleats at the back center
  • a narrow waistband with a center back closure
  • matching or contrasting trim at the hem (after purchase, I will email you with trim options for your fabric)
  • hemmed to sit about 2" off the ground (at your ankles)

To achieve the correct historical silhouette, this set should be worn over over combinations, a corset, and petticoat, but no combinations, corset, or petticoat are included with this listing. However, this skirt can also be worn with modern undergarments, if you prefer!

It is pictured with Anne's Shirtwaist and a belt, but neither of these are included with the purchase of this listing.

Measure your waist to determine which size to order and choose your size based on the pictured sizing guidelines. For the most accurate fit, please take the measurements while wearing your corset and other undergarments (i.e. chemise, petticoat, etc). The skirt will be hemmed to sit about 2" off the floor; this will be based on the measurements you enter in your measurement worksheet.
